Just before winter break, Triumph High School students came together for a school-wide community service project that made a meaningful impact on Cheyenne’s homeless population. Partnering with the COMEA Shelter, students dedicated their time to folding, stuffing, and addressing envelopes for the shelter’s quarterly newsletter, which is mailed to donors to share updates and request support.
The COMEA Shelter provides housing, meals, and showers to adults in need—whether for a single night, several weeks, or even a year. Each resident is paired with a caseworker who helps connect them with resources to secure housing and employment. The shelter’s newsletter plays a vital role in keeping donors informed about new programs and projects, ensuring continued support for these essential services.
What made this project especially remarkable was the level of participation: nearly every student at Triumph High School took part. Their collective effort not only eased the workload for COMEA staff but also gave students a firsthand look at how small acts of service can strengthen the community.
As the holiday season approached, Triumph High’s students demonstrated that giving back is one of the most powerful lessons a school can teach.
